This may seem to be way off topic for a crochet and sewing blog. Truth is, I have not posted in a while. Actually, this is a perfect way to restart this blog. Dieting does have a place in a sewing blog. As I lose weight and inches, I will need to make new clothes and alter the clothes I have to fit my new body. I’ve done a huge closet purge over the last year. What I own now fits me well and I really like everything in my closet. Making alterations to these clothes may be a challenge—especially ready to wear. The things I sew will be much easier. I leave large seam allowances and I know exactly how I put the garment together. So why Nutrisystem?
I’ve tried everything diet wise from Atkins to Weight Watchers. Done the gym thing but that is no longer an option for me—my reasons are outside of the scope of this post. I refuse to go the surgical route. There may be an underlying medical issue that I am currently fighting my health care professionals about. They say no issue, but so many of my health issues point to a specific condition that runs in my family. So, after watching too much TV one cold weekend, I bought into Nutrisystem.
Nutrisystem offers their Fresh Start Program as the first week of their meal plan. It is a calorie restricted week of food that is supposed to kick start your weight loss. This is not appropriate for people with diabetes or other chronic health problems. They have programs that deal with those issues, I just chose their design your own program with the Fresh Start option.
According to Nutrisystem, the average woman loses about 11 pounds in the first month with Fresh Start. After that, the average is 1-2 pounds per week. My goal for my first month is 10 pounds. My ideal weight is 135. I have a long way to go to reach that goal, so I will take it one step at a time. I plan to give this a full year. By March 4, 2020, I plan to be at my ideal weight. I’ve done the math and it is way inside the average monthly weight loss for Nutrisystem. Right now I am struggling with whether or not I will post my weight and measurements. In some ways it will hold me accountable, in other ways it seems like a huge invasion of my privacy to post things so personal.
I plan on using the tools that come with Nutrisystem like their app NuMi. Fitbit is my friend. I just replaced my Blaze with an Ionic. I love that my watch can tell me the weather. Not sure why I think that is so cool, but I do. So check back tomorrow. I may post my starting measurements or not, but I will show you what I will be eating for the week and what I ate for the day. I’ll be adding a walk or too each day after the first week—the pups will love it. They will be with me. It will help keep them healthy too.
Has anyone tried Nutrisystem? What did you think about it.
